Walking robot project

A project, a competition

The primary goal of this project was to produce a model of a walking robot respecting strict specifications, which the project groups of each class had to respect. Secondly, all the robots met at the end of the year on the same starting line in order to crown the fastest robot. Adding a competition at the end of the project certainly helped motivate each team to give their best and also taught us how to manage competition, which is revealed as an additional source of stress.

A success ?

As you could see on the video just above, our robot has, after an unbearable suspense, crossed the finish line of this final first and made our project group the winner of the walking robot competition of the IUT de Cachan (first year). A success certainly, but with a multitude of aspects to improve: the management   of working time in parallel with other courses, the distribution of work or even a more far-sighted conception of problems related to raw materials.

A wealth of skills

This project was able to improve and provide skills that could not be more valuable for the engineering professions. The design part had fewer secrets for us than the rest since we acquired valuable experience through the design project. The transition between design and manufacturing was the richest in learning because we made a lot of mistakes there, mistakes that pushed us to awaken the do-it-yourself soul that lay dormant in us and that allowed us to overcome the incidents of last minute.
